January Highlights

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

January has been another busy month catching up with work after the festive season, with family oriented trips to Hobart thrown in for good measure.

Workwise, there’s been a lot going on with various photo shoots as well as some photo design work. The following articles will show you a brief round up, but before that, I must give a  big thank you to FIG Creative brands, particularly Jennifer, Adrian and Nathan. They have done a wonderful job getting my new website designed and built, and it is already bringing in new work.

Lucas Parklands

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

There has been much discussion and progress this month towards finalising the CD cover for Alexey Yemtsov’s live recording of classical piano music from a recent recital at Lucas Parklands near Montville. Alexey is one of Australia’s most exciting musical talents, a pianist of world class calibre. In addition to the photographs it was a real privilege to listen to him playing challenging pieces by Rachmaninov and Mozart among others. You will have to wait to see and hear the finished CD.

Then there was matt and Sarah’s wonderful wedding. Their big day took place in the beautiful showcase Tea Gardens just outside Maleny. There were smiles, tears and laughter as the afternoon unfolded. It was truly a romantic and touching occasion.matt-and-sarah-1matt-and-sarah-31matt-and-sarah-2

During the month the Maleny Film Society held its annual festival. Previously it was named the Australian Film Festival and Rolf de Heer was guest of honour, with a showing of his film Ten Canoes. This year the name was changedto the Maleny Film Festival as all five film makers are from the Maleny area. My task was to photograph the film makers and VIPs, including famous actor John Wood who opened the festival and passed on helpful hints from his vast experience in the film business.

Tea party
I was asked to photograph a wonderful family get together in Maleny involving an 80th birthday celebration. It took the form of a delightful garden tea party for about thirty family members from three generations.
